about us
about c&c:
The initiative for coffee&climate (c&c) was launched by members of the coffee sector in 2010 to address the challenges that changing climatic conditions pose to the entire coffee value chain. The initiative has focused its initial efforts on testing, consolidating and promoting the best climate adaptation and mitigation techniques for smallholder coffee farmers, and directly supporting farmers in their implementation of these techniques. Hanns R. Neumann Stiftung (HRNS), as the implementing organization of the initiative, has led climate adaptation capacity building activities with extensionists, producer organizations, producers and coffee institutes in 7 countries with more than 35,000 producers reached. It has developed a proven methodology to assess and respond to climate risks – documented in the c&c Sourcebook, which can be found here – and has consolidated the most effective practices from the field in the c&c toolbox, the initiative’s knowledge sharing hub.
about the c&c toolbox:
The c&c toolbox has been launched 2013 and was relaunched in 2018 with updated information, revised tool descriptions and an improved user interface. All tools authored by HRNS have been field tested by HRNS or its partners within the initiative for coffee&climate and are based on firsthand experience. All other tools are reviewed by a board of scientists and coffee experts and are selected based on their relation to climate resilience, base of evidence and feasibility to implement.
